5 skincare tips you need to remember

Hello, Dolls & Gents,

Here is a skincare post. Instead of focusing on my routine, I have decided to share 5 tips that can help maintain healthy glowing skin.

Remember, good skin comes with effort. You also don’t need to break the bank for it.

These tips may well be ones that you are already familiar with. Hence, I am here to give you a reminder to stop being lazy and to pick up on these tips/habits.

You will be grateful to yourself once you realize that these tips do indeed make a difference.

1- A bit of cold therapy.

Using ice has been a scientifically proven method to give you facelifts and overall firmer looking and feeling skin. By using ice on the face, it is basically contracting the muscles by drawing them upwards. It also reduces excess blood circulation which causes puffiness. Turning black/green tea, herbs, lemon juice, cucumber juice, aloe vera gel/juice and even oils like maracuja oil into ice cubes; add more benefits along with contracting the muscles. Such as; brightening, firming, hydrating and removal of toxins. Wrap a muslin cloth around the ice cube and gently press on to the face. Dab and massage your way upward and inward. This is also great to reduce visible lines or sometimes early signs of aging skin. The perfect time for a cold therapy is in the morning right after waking up.

2- Stick to water-based moisturizers.

This is extremely useful if you get congested pimples. If you are also living in a more humid/tropical climate, this could be a choice that can help you with keeping your pimples at bay. A good water-based moisturizer will provide the perfect hydration by minimizing chances of clogging your pores. Due to their gel or thin lotion formula, they are super lightweight and sinks into the skin beautifully: allowing your skin to breathe underneath makeup and in scorching weather. Think about it, if you love wearing sunscreen and also serums, this formula of moisturizers is the key to avoiding the bulk of products. And if you have dry skin or spots, water-based moisturizers will tackle the areas effectively. They also work well for both oily and dry skin.

3- Lemon infused products.

Sometimes, applying a high concentration of lemon juice on the skin, let it be via a homemade mask or simply rubbing a slice of lemon on the skin; can result to be too harsh. So instead, you might want to focus on incorporating lemon infused products into your skincare regimen. This alone can balance your skin PH levels and kill plenty of bacteria. Meaning, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to use a lemon infused face wash every day and night.

4- Face Masks.

Can’t stress the importance of reaching for your face masks at least once a week. Because simply washing your face twice a day, isn’t enough to cleanse the grime and dirt in your pores or to get rid of dry spots. So go ahead, don’t let your busy schedules be the reason to avoid face masks. If you think about it, it is only a few minutes work to apply the product, and you can go about doing your assignment, office works, household chores, sleeping…etc.

5- Opening and closing pores.

Exposed to heat, our skin opens up its pores. Which allows you to thoroughly cleanse your skin. So showering or washing your face with hot water first, and then using cleansing products will result to be quite effective. Meaning, you are going to get more of your money's worth on the skincare you spend on. In this way, hovering your face over a facial steamer can help too. Make sure that you add a bit of lemon essential oil to the steamer. Once again, it will kill the bacteria on your skin. Once you are ready to rinse… rinse first with warm water and then finish off by rinsing with cold water (which will close the pores). Make this a daily part of your grooming routine. It’s always so much easier to get it done during the shower.

Thank you so much for reading this post.
