MEET THE AUTHOR
I started blogging when I was 15 while I was still trying to self-discover, and unless you go back in time, there is not a chance that you will find anything remotely written by a younger version of me. This is the most evolving blog that probably carries the biggest void. I have a background in Public Relations and I have been exploring the field minutely here in the Maldives. I am a walking oxymoron. Despite my background, I am not a digital junkie and there is a sense of empowerment to that. Well at least for me. Some would say, knowing the web and media landscape, I had seen enough. My true calling lies in writing, movie analysis and continuously discovering my own brand whether it be personally or professionally. I could list the awards and the honors I have achieved till date, but I would say that my truest achievement was learning to overcome imposter syndrome and being honestly and genuinely masterful to the art of being 'unanxious'.
WHAT I WISH TO DO FOR MYSELF
To let go and be authentically me. When I am 30, there shall be no regrets.

WHEN THE WORLD FEELS LOUD & BIG, I BUILD SOMETHING SMALL | LADY TULIP

Hello Dolls & Gents,

There’s a particular kind of hush that settles over my wooden bed tray the moment I open a new Cute Bee DIY Booknook kit. It’s not just the usual “I’m-about-to-start-a-craft-project” kind of hush. Oh no…no, it’s softer, deeper, almost enchanting. A hush that very much evokes the feeling as though a tiny portal is being cracked open.

If you’ve ever built a book nook, you probably know what I mean.

If you haven’t… oh, friend, you’re in for a treat.

I’ve dabbled in a couple of craft hobbies, but assembling book nooks has a way of gently nudging my inner world into alignment. There’s something about the tiny-ness. The miniature signs, books no bigger than an inch, the life like plants, the small bulbs and its detailed wirings fit for a professional engineer.

All those details…they successfully silence my negative inner voice. It’s like instant remedy.Every fiddly tiny piece I glue into place or hammer together, feels like a miniature victory. The instructions are cut and dried and so really… there’s no room for “you can’t”. I’m too busy deciding whether a microscopic café mug looks better on the left or right side of a circular table.

Once a book nook is completed and when the lights click on for the first time? Instant serotonin! Please imagine me snapping my fingers when I say this.

The more detailed these sets get, the more my brain transcends into a dreamlike state. Suddenly, I’m wondering how human the details are: paintings of people on walls to witches and wizards organizing their own chaos of little potions and ingredients on shelves. The longer I stare at the creations, my thoughts wander off to, whether little people would find the design functional, and to my shock the answer is always, yes. My absolute favorite is the outside café seating. A book titled 'I Hope You Find Me' lays next to a cup of coffee. This little detail is absolutely romantic and makes you wonder what kind of conversations could take place in such a setting.

So far, my corners of magic include:

A mini café. All warm lights, tiny specialty buns, with a very customized coffee station that makes me instantly crave the ambience of a good café with someone I love.

Two miniature bookstores. One for classic literature and one for scholarly texts. Once I built them, I imagined rival shopkeepers (on the same block), competitive yet continuously breaking into friendly discourses.

A magical common room for witches and wizards, complete with dragons and mystical elements influencing bits of wall and furniture deco. This one lights up like the coziest corner of a fantasy novel.

Each build has its own mood, its own story, its own tiny heartbeat. And each one leaves me just a little more enchanted than before.

If you’re itching to dip your fingers or your imagination into book nook building, they’re surprisingly accessible. You can snag them from Replicate (Hulhumale'), where the prices are pretty moderate considering the hours of joy (and occasional glue-on-finger moments) they bring.

If your mind feels loud, or your creativity feels sluggish, or your heart just needs a pocket-sized escape… try one.

Let yourself be swallowed by the tiny worlds.
Let the pieces slow you down.
Let the details remind you of joy.

Because sometimes all you need to feel a bit restored is a glue bottle, a set of tweezers, a small hammer and a small, glowing room that you built with your own two hands.

Thanks for stopping by...until next time.
